Dr. Mohammad Ishaque Husain is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre of Da‘wah and Islamic Civilization, Faculty of Islamic Contemporary Studies, University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Arabic Studies from the National University of Bangladesh in 2013, following an MBA in Human Resource Management from Stamford University, Bangladesh, and earlier degrees in Islamic Studies and Da‘wah from Darul Ihsan University.

Before joining UniSZA in 2023, Dr. Ishaque accumulated extensive academic and professional experience in both higher education and Islamic finance sectors. He previously served as Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator at Darul Ihsan University, Bangladesh, and earlier as Lecturer at several higher education institutions, including International Islamic University Chittagong. Alongside his academic career, he worked for nearly a decade as a Shariah Auditor (Muraqib) in leading Islamic banks in Bangladesh, contributing to Shariah governance, audit, compliance, Islamic social finance (Zakat, Cash Waqf, Hajj finance), and staff training.

Dr. Ishaque’s areas of expertise include Islamic Da‘wah and Civilization, Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, Maqasid al-Shariah), Islamic Finance and Banking, Shariah Governance, and Islamic Social Finance. His scholarly work bridges classical Islamic sciences with contemporary societal, economic, and financial challenges.
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed international journals indexed in Scopus, ESCI, ERA, and other academic databases, with research focusing on Qur’anic methodology in da‘wah, Islamic ethics, Islamic finance, maqasid-based analysis, religious sociology, and applied Islamic studies. His publications appear in journals such as International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science, International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences, Nanotechnology Perceptions, Library Progress International, and Nsukka Journal of the Humanities, among others.

Dr. Ishaque is also an active contributor to international and national conferences, including UniSZA-hosted international conferences, where he has presented research on da‘wah, Islamic education, social finance, and contemporary jurisprudential issues. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for indexed journals, a panel evaluator for postgraduate colloquia, and a supervisor of PhD students.
Beyond academia, Dr. Ishaque has long been involved in community service and educational development, having served as an educational advisor to Islamic institutions, founder of a madrasa, and khatib for over a decade. His academic mission centers on integrating Islamic scholarship with real-world application, institutional development, and international academic collaboration.
